Having completed the book

Having completed the book, I took it out into the windy back yard. I set it on my wrist where it remained for a while, then lifted first one then the other of its covers, shook a little and with a great lunge, flapping both together, took off in a flurry of pages. It headed turbulently up and south, dodging between the guava and the yellow-wood tree, then soared above Mr Bonnema’s roof, entering the stream of the southeaster. In a moment, still rising, it had turned and was moving north with the wind, over our roof and gone from my sight.
