An Orchid Pendant with Labradorites

I was able to take advantage of the banding in a piece of labradorite that I had, to make these little two-tone flowers, somewhat reminiscent of orchids. Photographs can’t do labradorite justice – the colours and their intensity change according to the light, and it is this change that makes them so interesting. The visual effect is of a glowing light inside the stone.

Set up like this, bursting from the frame and flickering with light, the stones come to life.

  1. This is pretty sweet! Definitely not going to find this at my Jewelry Store. Well done and hats off to you!

  2. I’ve never seen that done with labradorite…and it makes me think…I wonder if cameos are possible? Probably not, but then I didn’t think of this either…..beautiful, like the rest of your work!
